Sorry I wanted to like -- something -- about the book. The domestic abuse and fear from that was a great starter (and not a spoiler as it is on page 1). But really the 17 times of "drooling" over various body parts, 300 times losing concentration due to lust, or my personal favorite of thinking his eyes were like a chocolate then morphed into a melts in your mouth fantasy immature lust play on words - I don't get that metaphor either - this book was TORTURE! If it had cost 10 cents I would have felt cheatedIt was free and I did finish it - sort of - I had to finally start scrolling through pages (sometimes chapters) to get to anything of substance. I don't mind sex scenes, but this was 10% story, tops 15% sex, and 75% teen angst and whiny hormonal lust language - maybe if the author had made the story a shorter novella, and dumped 1/2 of the book and almost all the whining, lust refrain and the repeated repeated repeated mantra of "yum. I can't control my lustful thoughts" it might have been readable - barely
If I could give this a lower rating I would.

At that time, she thought Levi was a mere bartender, but Levi is the bar owner... Moreover, he's working on creating a bed-and-breakfast in the adjacent lot. When Levi saw Shelby again, he knew someone had hurt her, but he's not the prying kind. He offered her one of the rooms in bed and breakfast, and a job at the bar. Moreover, when her abusive ex found her again... Levi will call in all his favors to ensure Shelby will never face that nightmare alone, ever again...
Not quite up to the author's standards. There were repeated mentions of drooling, which is a bit off-putting. Moreover, the resolution was all talk, no action. It's pretty obvious her stalker has connections, but other than some stalker photos taken by a PI there wasn't anything threatening. It's like the boogeyman, all roaring, no bite.
I can’t say enough great things about Perfect Kiss and the entire Hope Falls series. Sitting down and reading the Hope Falls series (and the Crossroads series) is like taking a step into my alternate life in my small home town. I think I have fallen in love with every single one of the characters in each of Melanie Shawn's books.
LEVI, umm yes please!! His name alone is sexy! I was so excited to read his story from hearing about him in the previous books in the series. He runs JT’s Roadhouse and purchased the property behind the bar to renovate and turn into a B&B. After dancing and sharing an unforgettable perfect kiss with Shelby Kellan, his buddy Matt Kellan’s sister, at Matt’s wedding “one year, five months, two weeks and four days ago” (not that anyone is counting) he hasn’t been able to get her out of his head. He didn’t think he’d see her again… That is until he finds out that Shelby is coming to town to spend time with her brother and kids. Little does he know his world is about to be turned upside down and righted in the best way possible.
Shelby Kellan was always known to be a beautiful, young, spunky and confident woman. Unfortunately she went through a traumatic experience in her last relationship which caused her to run away and come to Hope Falls to figure things out and heal. She ends up working at Levi’s bar and helps him renovate the B&B. As Levi and Shelby rebuild the B&B they also rebuild each other and she’s able to find herself again and gain the confidence she had lost.
Of course the book wouldn’t be complete without also checking in with the previous couples from the series. I think it’s one of the things I love most about the series, the fact that we move on to another book but we still know what’s going on in the lives of everyone else and they are all still intertwined in each book.
This book in the Hope Falls collection was probably one of my favorites. The emotions are so raw and honest, I found myself laughing and crying with the characters throughout the book. The writing style of Melanie and Shawna is so descriptive, captivating and very witty I just love to just get lost in their novels and can never put them down. After finishing with the Hope Falls and Crossroads series I think I grieved a little for the fact that I had to wait for the next one to come out. I can’t wait for Adam Dorsey’s book to come out and am excited to get lost in his world and catch up on my favorite characters. If you know what’s good for you you’ll check out this and the Crossroads series, trust me, you won’t regret it!
Welcome back to Hope Falls! I love this series. You know you are reading a wonderful book with a fantastic author team when you just can’t put the book down. All you want to do is keep reading until you are finished. Then, you sigh and think to yourself why didn’t I slow down because now what do I read to top that. Melanie Shawn pulls you into the story. You feel as if you are a part of the story. The editing is awesome. There are no miscues to make you stop and have to read again. The storyline will keep you interested from start to stop. Levi owns the local bar in town. He and Shelby had an encounter at a wedding over a year ago. He has never forgotten that encounter even though she left without a goodbye. Shelby comes back to Hope Falls to try to get her life back together. There are sparks flying everywhere, but both of them are too stubborn to do anything about this lust. Each have their own reasons, but you just want to shake them and yell, “Get on with it!”. Even though this book is a part of a series, you could read it as a stand alone. Other characters reappear, but you can follow the story without knowing their backgrounds. Dual point of view. No cliffhanger. I can’t wait to visit Hope Falls again. If you haven’t checked out any of this writing team’s other series, do yourself a favor and one click those books.
